Quick Understanding
Present Simple ve Present Continuous, ikisi de "şimdiki zaman" gibi görünse de çok farklı işler görür: Present Simple genel gerçekleri, alışkanlıkları ve kalıcı durumları anlatır; Present Continuous ise tam şu anda olan ya da geçici bir eylemi anlatır. Türkçede ikisi de çoğu zaman "-yor" ya da geniş zaman ekleriyle karışabildiği için, doğru zamanı seçmek Türk öğrenciler için en kritik ayrımlardan biridir.

Word Order
Present Simple'da sıklık zarfları (always, usually, often, sometimes, never) be dışındaki ana fiilden ÖNCE gelir. Present Continuous'ta ise be fiilinden SONRA, -ing fiilinden önce gelir.
- I always walk to school.Okula her zaman yürüyerek giderim.
- He is always complaining about work.İş hakkında sürekli şikayet ediyor.
How It Works
When do we use it?
- Alışkanlık/rutin → Present Simple: I brush my teeth twice a day.
- Genel gerçek/kalıcı durum → Present Simple: Water boils at 100 degrees.
- Tam şu anda oluyor → Present Continuous: She is brushing her teeth right now.
- Geçici, bir süreliğine devam eden durum → Present Continuous: I'm staying at a hotel this week.
- Stative (durum) fiiller her zaman Present Simple ile kullanılır: I understand the lesson now (NOT am understanding).
- Always + continuous → sık tekrarlanan, can sıkıcı bir davranış için şikayet: You're always interrupting me!
When DON'T we use it?
❌ I am understanding the problem now. → ✅ I understand the problem now.
Sürekli/rutin bir gerçeği Present Continuous ile anlatma — bu, geçicilik anlamı katar ve yanlış izlenim verir.
❌ The Earth is going around the Sun. → ✅ The Earth goes around the Sun.
Short Answers
Present Continuous kısa cevap: be ile — "Is he playing tennis now?" → Yes, he is.
Not: Hangi zamanla soruldu ise kısa cevap da aynı yardımcı fiille verilir.

- I usually cook dinner at seven.Genelde akşam yemeğini yedide pişiririm.
- I'm cooking dinner right now — can you call back later?Şu anda yemek pişiriyorum, sonra arasan olur mu?
- My sister works in a hospital.Kız kardeşim bir hastanede çalışıyor.
- My sister is working a night shift this week.Kız kardeşim bu hafta gece vardiyasında çalışıyor.

Karşılaştırma ve Şikayet
- The company usually hires new staff in January.Şirket genelde yeni personeli ocakta işe alır.
- The company is hiring extra staff this month because of the new project.Şirket bu ay yeni proje yüzünden ek personel alıyor.
- He always leaves his dishes in the sink!Bulaşıklarını her zaman lavaboda bırakır.
- He is always leaving his dishes in the sink — it drives me crazy.Bulaşıklarını lavaboda bırakıp duruyor, beni çıldırtıyor.

Compare With
Present Simple
Kalıcı, tekrarlanan, genel doğru: "I drink tea every morning."
Present Continuous
Geçici, şu an, henüz devam eden: "I'm drinking tea right now."
İkisi arasındaki temel test: eylem her zaman mı doğru, yoksa sadece şu an/bu dönemde mi doğru? Cevap "her zaman" ise Simple, "sadece şimdi" ise Continuous.
