Write four predictions about your own life or the world, using the Future Perfect and the Future Continuous.
The Future Perfect (will have + past participle) describes an action that will be completed before a specific point in the future (By 2050, they will have built...). The Future Continuous (will be + -ing) describes an action that will be in progress at a specific point in the future (This time next year, I will be studying...).

We use the Future Perfect to say an action will be finished by a certain future time, and the Future Continuous to say an action will be happening at that future time.
TRBir eylemin gelecekte belirli bir zamana kadar tamamlanmış olacağını söylerken Future Perfect; o anda devam ediyor olacağını söylerken Future Continuous kullanırız.

A Postcard from 2126
Imagine a morning a hundred years from now. Your bedroom lights adjust themselves before you even open your eyes, and a gentle voice tells you the weather, your first meeting, and how well you slept. By the time you reach the kitchen, a small robot has already prepared your breakfast according to what your body needs that day. Outside, the streets are quieter than today's, filled with silent electric vehicles and bicycles rather than roaring engines. Most rooftops are covered with solar panels, and vertical gardens climb the sides of buildings, growing vegetables for the neighbourhood. It sounds like science fiction, yet many of these ideas are already being tested in cities around the world.
Work will probably look very different too. Automation is bound to take over repetitive tasks, from packing boxes to answering simple customer questions, freeing people for more creative or caring jobs. Some researchers predict that by 2126 many adults will have changed careers several times, constantly learning new skills as technology develops. Others are less certain, warning that the transition could increase inequality if only some people gain access to good education and training. Either way, the classroom of the future is set to look nothing like the classroom of today, with lessons designed around each learner's pace rather than a fixed timetable for everyone.
Not everything, however, is guaranteed to improve. Rising sea levels are likely to force some coastal communities to move inland, and overpopulation in certain regions could put pressure on food, water and housing. Scientists are on the verge of several breakthroughs in renewable energy and medicine, but whether societies use these discoveries wisely remains an open question. Perhaps the most honest postcard from 2126 wouldn't promise a perfect world — just one that is different, and, with the right choices, possibly fairer than our own.

Negotiating Tomorrow
Last month, the town council of a small coastal city held an unusual meeting. A group of young engineers had submitted a proposal to turn an old car park into a 'vertical farm' — a multi-storey building that would grow vegetables using solar power and recycled water. Some council members were immediately in favour, arguing that the project was bound to reduce the town's dependence on imported food. Others were more cautious, worried about the cost and whether local residents would actually support it.
After two hours of discussion, neither side was ready to give in completely, so they began to negotiate a compromise. The engineers agreed to reduce the size of the project in its first year, while the council agreed to provide a small grant instead of covering the full cost. 'It isn't exactly what we proposed,' admitted one engineer afterwards, 'but it's a realistic first step, and we're likely to expand it later if it works.' The council also promised to review the results in due course, rather than committing to years of funding immediately.
For many residents watching the debate online, the meeting was a lesson in how future-focused decisions actually get made — not through grand, perfect plans, but through patient back-and-forth negotiation. As one council member put it, 'Nobody got everything they wanted, but nobody walked away empty-handed either. Sooner or later, that's how most good ideas about the future become real.'

Dr. YıldızWelcome back to the podcast. Today we're looking at predictions about everyday life in a hundred years.
Dr. YıldızLet's start with homes. Most future buildings are likely to generate their own electricity, using solar panels and other technology built right into the walls.
Dr. YıldızNow, food. Scientists are on the verge of producing lab-grown meat that tastes just like the real thing, though it isn't on every shelf yet.
Dr. YıldızAnd transport — instead of owning a car, many people will simply request a self-driving vehicle whenever they need one.
Dr. YıldızIt's an exciting picture of the future, and honestly, closer than we might think.

Life in 100 Years
In pairs, discuss what you think everyday life will be like in 100 years. Talk about at least three areas (home, transport, work, food, or health), using the Future Perfect, Future Continuous and future expressions (be likely to, be bound to, be set to) where natural.
Let's Negotiate
In pairs, role-play a short negotiation. Student A proposes a plan for the future (e.g. how your class should prepare for exams, or a change to your school). Student B should not agree immediately — negotiate a compromise using phrases for accepting, turning down and adjusting a proposal.
Life in the Future: An Essay
Plan and write an essay giving your opinion on what life will be like in 50 to 100 years. Draw a simple outline first (introduction, two developing paragraphs, conclusion), and use at least two linkers of addition (furthermore, in addition, moreover) and two linkers of contrast (however, on the other hand, although).
