To be — am / is / are

İngilizce'nin en temel fiili budur. Türkçe'deki "-dır / -dir / -dur / -yım / -sin" eklerinin karşılığıdır. "Ben öğrenciyim" → "I am a student." Her özne için farklı bir form kullanılır — üçünü de ezberlemen gerekiyor.

"Are you a student?" sorusuna:

Konuşurken ve yazışırken kısaltmalar çok daha doğal gelir:

Sadece vurgu yaparken tam form kullan: "Yes, I AM ready!"
