Vurgu için cleft cümleler ve öne alma (fronting)

Türkçe'de vurgulamak istediğimiz öğeyi yüklemin hemen önüne koyarız. İngilizce'de sözcük sırası daha sabittir; bu yüzden vurgu için cümle ikiye bölünür (cleft = yarılmış): It was Maria who called. veya What I need is a break. Olumsuz ya da kısıtlayıcı bir ifade cümle başına alınınca ise soru düzeni (inversion) kullanılır.

The Smartphone Revolution

sarı işaretli kelimeler bu ünitenin hedef yapıları ve kalıplarıdır.

It was not until 2007 that the smartphone transformed from a niche device into the central object of modern life. Before the iPhone, mobile phones existed — but it was Apple who changed everything.

What Jobs understood was not simply that people needed a phone. What he grasped was something far more profound: that people needed a computer in their pocket. It was this insight that created a trillion-dollar industry.

Never before had a single consumer product disrupted so many industries simultaneously — music, photography, navigation, banking, communication. Not until companies began losing billions did many traditional industries realise the scale of the threat.

Only when we examine the speed of this change do we appreciate how remarkable it was. In 2005, relatively few people owned a smartphone. By 2015, well over a billion people did. What is striking is not merely the technology — it is the speed at which human behaviour adapted.

Seldom has a technology been adopted so rapidly across so many different cultures, income levels, and age groups simultaneously. It was not the hardware that made the iPhone revolutionary — it was the App Store that turned the phone into a platform.

1Cleft yeniden yazma

Rewrite these sentences using cleft structures for emphasis: 1-) 'The internet changed global communication.' 2-) 'A small team of engineers invented the solution.' 3-) 'Persistence makes the difference.'
0 kelime
It was Apple who fundamentally changed the technology industry, not Microsoft. What Steve Jobs understood was that people wanted a computer in their pocket, not on their desk. It was the App Store that transformed the smartphone into an open platform. Never before had a single consumer product disrupted so many industries simultaneously.

2Yenilik yazısı

Write 4–5 sentences about an important innovation using at least 2 cleft structures and 1 inversion.

It was the internet that truly transformed global communication in ways nobody had predicted. What a small team of engineers at CERN invented became the solution to a problem that nobody had yet named. What ultimately makes the difference between success and failure, I would argue, is persistence rather than genius or luck.
