| Why nominalise? | Academic/formal register — less personal, more objective, more concise | 'People move' = informal / 'Migration increases' = academic | The achievement of equality remains distant. (formal) vs. 'It's hard to make people equal.' (informal) |
| The + noun + of | The + V-N + of + noun phrase = formal action phrase | İsimlesen fiilin nesnesini gösterme | The development OF new technologies / The reduction OF poverty / The integration OF markets |
The integration of global markets was supposed to benefit everyone. The expansion of trade has indeed created wealth — but also widening inequality. The development of communication technology has accelerated this process to a speed that was unimaginable even thirty years ago.
The establishment of international institutions — the WTO, the IMF, the World Bank — was intended to provide economic stability. But the resistance of many communities to rapid economic change has been far greater than policymakers anticipated. Migration — both economic and forced — has increased dramatically, generating profound political consequences.
The outsourcing of manufacturing to lower-wage countries created complex ethical questions. The concentration of wealth in the hands of a small global elite represents perhaps globalisation's greatest failure. Despite its promises, the achievement of genuine global economic equality remains a distant aspiration.
The reduction of extreme poverty in some regions — particularly in East Asia — represents a genuine success. But this has sometimes come at the cost of de-industrialisation elsewhere, generating resentment and political instability.
The complexity of these trade-offs cannot be overstated. There are no simple solutions. What is required is not the abandonment of global cooperation, but its more careful, equitable, and democratic management.
